This morning I was in need of some more flowery inspiration.. and took out my Designers Guild book ‘Flowers’…. and flicked through all the beautiful colourful pages… and sighed!
Tricia Guild sarted with her business in 1970 and now is a worldwide emporium…. of beautiful interior fabrics, wallpapers furniture, paints and patterns …. all based on nature!
I was spending most of my childhood holidays in Sussex, Lindfield, UK, where my parents had a 100yr old cottage…. a dream.. and I remember going shopping in local villages and discovering Designers Guild for the 1st time… even then I was mesmorized by the romantiscism of it…. !!!!
What made Tricia Guild do it? She did not only dream about the idea but also brought it to fruitition.. you just need to get started and do it. That is the secret.
One business woman told me once: you get 1111 point for a business;
1 point for the idea
10 points for the businessplan
100 points for starting
1000 points for keeping it going and growing succesfully
So if you have a great idea and are continously dreaming about it… well take a first small step and get going and write it down on paper…. and tell 1 really really good friend and listen to what he/she says.
Try it then as a small project to see if you really still like it…. ask friends to come and take part for a small price….. get feedback and write down the pros and cons… what could you improve….
Keep going and good luck… but just doing it is the best… no matter the mistakes… they teach you actually to grow…. and don’t take the feedback personally….
Eventually find a sponsor…. & go step by step. It takes guts and courage…. but if it is truely your passion and your natural talent is involved you will LOVE doing it, no matter what it takes!
